Q&A
What led you to pursue a career in manufacturing?
I grew up surrounded by people who were in manufacturing. By the age of 8 or 9, I became fascinated with the number of things that can be created using different types of equipment and materials. From then on, I knew that I belonged in this field.
What has your journey been like?
I attended A. I. Prince Tech from 2009 to 2012, choosing automated manufacturing as my trade. While there, I learned to use different machines and met many people who were an inspiration to me.
After Prince Tech, I attended Asnuntuck Community College, where I earned my advanced manufacturing certificate and started my first job at Carey Manufacturing. Now I am attending Springfield Technical Community College to earn my A.S. in manufacturing engineering.
What have you learned about yourself?
I learned that I love challenges and that I will never know enough. Every day is an opportunity to expand your knowledge. Also, I love to provide and help the community as much as I can.
Do you have any advice for people interested in a career in manufacturing?
Many people have a very specific and small view regarding manufacturing without realizing that everything that surrounds you has to be manufactured. So I believe they should reach out to people who are on the field or go on company tours to learn more about it, as many think that manufacturing is dirty and dangerous, which is not the case. Manufacturing can be fun, and there is a lot to see and learn from it.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I love spending time with my family, especially my two daughters, play video games, and try new things.
