Q&A

What led you to pursue a career in manufacturing?

Ever since I was young, I have always liked working with my hands. That fascination remains with me today, as I love fixing and creating things. Those skills and interests tied perfectly into manufacturing, so I felt it was a great decision to turn that into a career.

What has your journey been like?

Prior to working in manufacturing, I attended trade school, where I was enrolled in a program for women to join trade industries. I have been working in manufacturing for 20 years, with a focus on gauges and calibrations at my previous jobs. Here at Atlas, I have taken on a similar yet broader role, where I have been able to learn a lot about this area of manufacturing.

What have you learned about yourself?

Working for a manufacturing company like Atlas, where each employee is integral to the success of the company, has taught me to always be on time and be responsible.

In that sense, I have learned that companies like this require accountability, as my co-workers not only rely on me, but I rely on them as well.

Do you have any advice for people thinking about a career in manufacturing?

Come give it a try. Even if it’s not for you, the experience will help you figure out what you like and what benefits you within the workplace.

What do you do in your free time?

I enjoy spending time with my husband, going bowling, playing Wii games, listening to music, and playing with Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Although I find myself working often, I still have plenty of time to enjoy the things I love.
