Q&A

What led you to pursue a career in manufacturing?

I was intrigued with hands-on work. I wanted to be able to physically make something and understand the basis of what I am making and how I am making it.

What has your journey been like?

My journey has been fantastic. I started off at CCAT, where I got to work in the Advanced Composites Technology Center. CCAT has taught me a lot and allowed me to expand my knowledge of physical, hands-on engineering. From there, I was accepted into Pratt & Whitney’s Engineering Development Program, where I’ll be able to become a structural, design, and project engineer.

What have you learned about yourself?

I’ve learned that I am capable of doing things beyond my expertise. I’ve learned that I am more brave than I imagined. Having the courage to go out and do the things I’ve wanted to do has allowed me to flourish in my career.

Do you have any advice for people interested in a career in manufacturing?

Remember that manufacturing is all around you. If you’re scared to go in the field, that should give you the courage to fight your fears, take life by the horns, and impress yourself by doing what you thought you couldn’t do.

What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time I love to cook, play pool with my friends, listen to music, explore the state with my puppy, and go shopping.
