Q&A

What do you do?

I work in our machining department and run a variety of CNC machines to manufacture parts for a variety of companies. I’m responsible for not only running the machines, but also checking measurements, changing tools and other tasks.

How do you find meaning in it?

I am fascinated with how products are made and to turn an ordinary piece of metal and form it into a finished product is very satisfying to me. The opportunity to run a variety of machines allows me to keep my mind on the task at hand and constantly self-improve.

What led you to a career in manufacturing?

I really enjoy hands-on work and once I learned the CNC machines, I realized that it also involves working with numbers, solving problems and equations. So it’s both physical and mental.

Do you have any advice for people thinking about manufacturing careers?

If you like a challenge and enjoy being part of a team, then manufacturing is certainly a good career.

What do you like to do in your free time outside of work?

I like to play sports, going for walks and spending time with my family.
